Siddharth Anand is the director of the 2024 Indian Hindi-language action movie Fighter, which is based on a script he co-wrote with Ramon Chibb. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor, the film is produced by Viacom18 Studios and Marflix Pictures. It is the first in a planned series of aerial action films.
The movie was revealed on January 10, 2021. The COVID-19 epidemic caused a delay in pre-production. Ultimately, principal photography started in November 2022 and ran concurrently in Assam, Hyderabad, Jammu & Kashmir, Mumbai, and other locations. It was completed in late October. For the movie, real Indian Air Force cadets were involved. The movie makes allusions to the 2019 Balakot airstrike, the 2019 Pulwama assault, and the 2019 border skirmishes between India and Pakistan. Composed the soundtrack CD for the movie.
In Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, a terrorist organization led by Azhar Akhtar plans to attack India, targeting the Srinagar Air Force Station base. Group captain Rakesh "Rocky" Jai Singh forms a team called "Air Dragons" to counter the threat, including Squadron Leaders Shamsher "Patty" Pathania, Minal "Minni" Rathore, Sartaj "Taj" Gill, Basheer "Bash" Khan, and Sukhdeep "Sukhi" Singh. During training, the team members bond, and Minni develops romantic feelings for Patty. However, Patty is haunted by his past, having lost his fiancée in a previous mission. The Indian Air Force and RAW agent Zarina Begum plan a counterattack on Akhtar's base in Balakot, leading to conflict between India and Pakistan. The Pakistani Air Force launches a retaliatory attack on the Indian base, capturing Taj and Bash. Patty is suspended from the Air Dragons and placed as a flying instructor at the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad. The Pakistani government promises to escort Taj and Bash safely back to India. Patty defies orders to rescue Bash and joins a covert mission, successfully infiltrating enemy territory and killing Akhtar. In the end, Minni and Patty celebrate their victory.
